Promoting Equity

In my opinion, becoming a Science teacher will be the most rewarding thing I could do in my life. I strive to build my future students up to their fullest potential. I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining rich diversity and inclusivity. All races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, and identities will feel safe in my classroom. I want to create a classroom where they will feel respected, celebrated, represented, and cared for.

Classroom Management

I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining the right environment in my classroom. It will be rich in diversity and inclusivity. All races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, and identities will feel safe in my classroom.

I will make sure to deliver my science lessons in a way that will be received by all learning types and offer extra attention to those struggling.

I want my walls to be covered with stimulating, inclusive, educational posters and art. They will be related to my subject, the real world, and students. I hope it will further set the tone of the class.

My room will be uplifting, supportive, inclusive, diverse, calming, and fun. I will ensure my kids leave happier than when they arrived.

Teaching Science Content & Instructional Strategy

When I am a science teacher, I envision myself delivering content in a way that is most easily absorbed and retained by students.

To conduct each lesson, I will use a good amount of technology as my aid. I love using powerpoints to enhance the learning experience. It will make for easier note taking and retaining focus. I will include many videos of the topic being carried out in the real world so that the students can know why what we are learning about is important and practical.

The activities will be hands-on and encourage a healthy cognitive workout.

Ensuring Collaborative Success

Kids at this age have brains that are still developing. The frontal lobe is responsible for a large amount of jobs. This includes self control, judgment, and emotional regulation. To successfully teach things to teenagers, there needs to be a lot of patience, understanding of their brain functions, and willingness to help.

To ensure my students' success, I will be using cognitive tools that I have learned from studying Bloom’s taxonomy. I want to both challenge my students as well as use vocabulary that is appropriate for their level of intelligence.

I hope to be a teacher whom students will depend on and can trust that I will work with them to get where they want to be.
